POSTAL STAFF COLLEGE, ISLAMABAD

COURSE ON "INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & SYSTEMS"

(19th March - 14th April, 2001)

This course is being conducted by the Pakistan Post Office under the Government of Pakistan's Technical Assistance Programme for developing countries and is being participated by 14 Postal Managers from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Jordan, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Sri-Lanka, Syria and Thailand.

The course consists of 3 weeks of class room / computer lab sessions / hands on training , and 1 week study tour to Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi. The highlight of the course is a one days seminar to be conducted by STEPHEN BROBST, who is the Chief Technology Officer NCR CORPORATION specializing in the design and construction of Data Warehouse solutions for Fortune 500 companies and recognized as a speaker of acclaim worldwide on Data Warehousing. Stephen performed Masters and PHD research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) and also holds MBA from Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan School of Management. The seminar will be conducted on March 20th from 0900 to 1600 hours at Hotel Marriott. The participants will also visit the places of historic and scenic importance like Murree, Patriata, Taxila, Kallar Kahar etc.

The participants will be received at Karachi and Islamabad International Airports by a representative of the Post Office department who will carry their names on playcard. In case of misconnection the participants should contact the Postmaster of Post Offices located on both these Airports. The post office at Karachi Airport is open round the clock.

Participants arriving from BHUTAN, NEPAL, BANGLADESH and PHILLIPINES are being issued their tickets up to Karachi. On arrival at Karachi International Airport they will be provided tickets for Karachi - Islamabad by a representative of AVIS Travel / Postmaster of Airport Post Office who will be displaying their names. In case of any misconnections these participants should contact the Post Postmaster of Karachi International Airport for immediate assistance.

The Pre-Paid Ticket Advice (PTA) of the participants have been sent toPakistan International Airlines (PIA) Office / their Agent in their respective countries on 12th March, 2001. Once the ticket is issued to them they should intimate their travel plan and arrival schedule to the College by fax / e.mail to arrange for their reception.

The participants should bring with them 6 passport size photographs for issuance of identity cards and other use.
